It Started with a Cleanup six months ago

Help us build a movement to make Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park more welcoming and accessible to every neighborhood

Last April 

On April 25, neighbors and volunteers came together to clean up an illegal dumping site at the edge of Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park, near Belmont Elementary School.

That cleanup sparked a bigger idea: What if this neglected space could become a welcoming entrance to the park for the Rosemont community?

On Saturday, November 21, we're returning to continue the cleanup and kick off the next chapter of the Rosemont Community Gateway Initiative.

FOGFLP is working with Belmont Elementary School, neighborhood residents, and community partners to transform the end of Poplar Street into an inviting neighborhood gateway to Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park.

The vision includes a natural entrance with landscaping and signage, and eventually a trail connection linking the school and surrounding neighborhood to the park's existing trails.

Our first step is another community cleanup, preparing the site for future improvements.

A park for its neighbors

The Rosemont Community Gateway is about more than improving an entrance. It's about helping neighboring communities discover, access, and enjoy the park—and giving residents a voice in shaping the spaces that connect their neighborhoods to it.

This is one step toward a larger vision of welcoming community gateways around Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park.
