On April 11, 2019, FOGFLP Filed a lawsuit against Baltimore City  for allowing BGE to construct a 2.2 mile natural gas pipeline through the Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park in violation of the City Charter.  BGE is also named in the suit because it destroyed 19 acres of parkland without having the right to do so.

BGE's initial plans were to cut a path (50 to 75 foot wide) that traversed directly from the I-70 Park-n-Ride to the end point near Rognel Heights.

FOGFLP worked with City and BGE officials to have the path altered so that it took the least invasive route, taking advantage of already open spaces without trees.

The plans ultimately circumvented the heart of the park, as shown by the red path in this image.  The solid red lines are where the pipe is bored underground, while the dotted lines indicate trenching.
