This free 5K run occurs every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. All ages are welcome. While many serious runners join us, Parkrun is not a race-- it is a fun run or walk for good health or to track your times. There is an optional social afterwards.
Kids and strollers are welcome. Dogs too! (one dog per runner). Participants tend to span all age groups and levels of fitness.
Our group of dedicated runners let almost nothing stop them, so we're out if it's sunny and beautiful, or if it's snowy and cold. Rarely, weather conditions or global pandemics do force us to re-route or cancel. Check out our Facebook page for last minute updates.
If you'd like to keep track of your time, and have it mailed to you after the race, register here
Second Sunday Returns:
Grab your family and a picnic lunch and head over to Eagle Drive for Train Rides and playground antics! The Carrie Murray Nature Center will also be open for visits. Outward Bound often has their climbing structure available for folks 5 and up (plan your footwear!) but this is highly weather dependent. The exact mix of activities changes month-to-month.
Keep in mind that the parking lot on Eagle Drive only holds about 30 cars and is often full at 11 AM. Sloman drive, one block west, also accessible off Windsor Mill road, holds an additional 75 cars and is a 5-10 minute walk across the Athletic fields.
Sunday, April 21 - Day Before Earth Day Hike - Moderate Hike in GFLP will include Winans Meadow, Crimea, and Millrace areas of park. Expect some climbs, paved and unpaved sections of Gwynns Falls Trail, a cemetery, and a visit to Winans Chapel. Approximate distance, 5 miles. Meet at 10:00am, Eagle Dr. parking lot, 1920 Eagle Dr, 21207.
Save the date for our first annual FOGFLP membership mixer. Watch this space for details!
